NDA sales report for January 2013: Call of Duty is still on top

The NPD sales numbers for the month of January 2013 have been released. The following top 10 boxed sales are as follows:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

1. Far Cry 3
2. Just Dance 4
3. NBA 2k13
4. Madden NFL 13
5. DMC: Devil May Cry
6. Halo 4
7. Assassin's Creed III
8. Skylanders Giants
9. FIFA Soccer 13

Surprisingly, industry sales have climbed 9 percent, with hardware sales rising four percent. Software sales have maintained steady sales with no rise or fault, and accessories sales have jumped over 30 percent.

The real looser here is the Wii U, a console that managed to get out sold by the Xbox 360 five fold. More importantly though, physical game sales now make up only 50% of the market, showing the ever increasing importance of digital game sales.
