The fans of “NCIS” get a rare treat in the rebroadcast of the popular CBS show on Tuesday night. While the episode airing might have been seen before, the viewers will get to see Ralph Waite again. The star died in February, but during this episode he guest stars as Jackson Gibbs, Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs' father. According to Broadway World on Tuesday, the show offers two stories and gives fans a look at the generations that have served in past wars on the episode “Better Angels.”
The "NCIS" investigation into the murder of a Marine sergeant, causes an authority conflict at the office. As the team comes together, Agent Gibbs’ absence half way through the case has Tony and McGee argue over who should run lead on the case. Looking to share that they know best and prove they are leaders, it appears that the situation gets figured out over the course of the murder investigation and a little showmanship is involved.
Agent Gibbs leaves to help his father reconnect with a former war pilot. Sharing flashbacks on the time of war, the search is on for a man who Jackson Gibbs needs to reconnect with and wants his son to meet. Tracking down several leads, it takes time, but the man is finally sought out. And so is the mystery on why Agent Gibbs needs to meet the man that his dad insists on taking the time to find.
Grab a tissue when watching this episode on Tuesday night. The sad part about this rebroadcast of the show is Ralph Waite, who guest stars as Jackson Gibbs, has died. The man was loved in television and found a number of great roles during his career. According to Entertainment Weekly a tribute is planned for future episodes of the CBS show. One of his last performances was on “NCIS” series and he is dearly missed.
