The "NCIS" spin-off 2013 that everyone seems to be talking about is moving ahead at full speed. On Sept. 23, MSN reported that CBS is "green-lighting" the new series which will be based in New Orleans. A 2-part pilot is going to air in the spring giving fans a taste of what's to come in a series where cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle are handled.
"New Orleans, with its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery is a magnet for military personnel on leave... and with fun, comes trouble. It is a natural backdrop for a unique character-driven spin-off," reads the official logline (via MSN).
The "NCIS" spin-off 2013 is already getting mixed reviews from dedicated fans. Many say that "NCIS" spinoffs don't work and that they won't watch. With such a great cast and great success on the original "NCIS," other spinoffs -- like Los Angeles -- don't tend to do well. With a few cast changes (such as Cote de Pablo / Ziva leaving), it seems like producers should be focused on making sure their foundation is solid before plugging forward with another spinoff.
Either way, the series is scheduled to begin filming in February. It is unknown who will be cast but that could be a major factor in the shows success as well. Imagine if Ziva actually transferred to a different office?
