"NCIS" kicks off its 12th season in just a few weeks with "Twenty Klicks," and it's going to put a couple of team members possibly in danger. On Thursday, Aug. 28, CBS released an official description and the first promotional photos teasing the first case of the season – and it is taking two of the team to Russia.

There was no big cliffhanger to end "NCIS" season 11. Instead, the finale's focus was on honoring Ralph Waite and Gibbs finding out his father died, which meant the case took a backseat as it should have. That also means that when the new season begins, there's nothing pressing to resolve, but it sounds like that should be a good thing because the team is going to be trying to find two missing members.

In the season 12 premiere, Gibbs and McGee travel to Russia to safely escort home an NCIS computer engineer connected to classified intel. However, that mission is compromised and they must go off the grid to avoid a Russian mercenary group hunting them. Back in D.C., the team frantically uses every asset and inter-agency contact they have to try to find them. But perhaps the most intriguing part of the press release is someone very familiar listed in the guest cast. Rudolf Martin is listed as Ari Haswari.

The first "Twenty Klicks" promotional photo (above, to the left) shows Tony, Bishop and Vance in D.C. at Tony's desk. You know something serious is going on when Vance is involved.

"NCIS" season 12 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on CBS. What do you think of the first details and first photo for "Twenty Klicks"?
