The most popular show on television is still "NCIS," and its spin-off "NCIS: Los Angeles" is almost as popular. The recent "NCIS" news is that there will be a second spin-off, this one based on New Orleans, and TV Line reported on Feb. 3 that "NCIS: New Orleans" has cast their first three stars.
"NCIS" itself was a spin-off from the military show "JAG," and has since become more popular than its predecessor. It's biggest cast member was Mark Harmon and the series surrounded him with an amazing supporting cast. With "NCIS: Los Angeles," the series cast two major stars in Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J and added an Oscar winner in Linda Hunt.
"NCIS: New Orleans" is now off to a big start as well.
First up, they cast the series lead as the popular Scott Bakula. Of course, Bakula has led two other TV shows in his career, first with "Quantum Leap" and then later with "Star Trek: Enterprise." He will play the team leader, Agent Pride, similar to the Mark Harmon role on the original "NCIS."
Quickly after that, two more stars were signed. First up is CCH Pounder, who has starred in a ton of great TV shows including "ER," "Warehouse 13" and more recently "The Shield" and "Sons of Anarchy." Pounder will play a Jefferson Parish medical examiner named Dr. Wade.
Also signing on is an old familiar face to fans of the franchise, Zoe McLellan, who starred on "JAG." She will play a Midwestern transplant who heads to New Orleans for a fresh start.
