'NCIS: Los Angeles' season 5 episode 23 preview: Messing with the wrong city

Don't mess with Los Angeles. That's the lesson some people are going to have to learn in next week's "NCIS: LA," episode 5x23, "Exposure," for which CBS released a new sneak preview on Tuesday, April 29, and it looks to be one explosive penultimate hour of the season.

The latest episode featured a case personal to Sam (LL Cool J), who had provided protection detail for the family at the heart of an investigation involving stolen software. While the team was on the clock with that one, doing what they had to in order to make sure the software was recovered before it was too late, it's nothing compared to the clock they're on in this next episode, not with the entire city of Los Angeles in imminent danger.

In next week's episode, a news reporter announces the group responsible for the deadly explosion at a military-sponsored charity event. It's up to the team to say goodbye to the weekend and investigate ZNN Reporter Dana Steele's (Tiffany Dupont) claims and search for the attacker.

The "Exposure" promo begins with the explosion, and while Nell (Renée Felice Smith) says that "it's looking like a terrorist attack," ZNN's Dana Steele is reporting that the terrorists have been identified as JLF. Are they looking at multiple attacks? "Time is of the essence," Hetty (Linda Hunt) warns (probably unnecessarily), and you know it's serious because you see other NCIS agents not just hanging around in the background to prove that there are other agents in the building, but working on computers and phones in front of Hetty.

Also, check out Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) searching a house and Sam tackling someone. "They picked the wrong city to mess with," Hetty tells Granger (Miguel Ferrer).

Plus, don't forget to check out the slideshow to see the promotional photos CBS has released from this episode. The images offer a look at Sam and Callen (Chris O'Donnell) at the scene of the explosion, as well as Dana Steele looking ready to go live (or already live) to give her report.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 5 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS. What do you think of the episode 23 "Exposure" photos and promo?
