The "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 5 premiere saw the tortured team members rescued (though they did have to wait a bit), but it's not just going to be back to business as usual when episode 2, "Impact," for which CBS released a new sneak preview Tuesday, Sept. 24, begins.
In this next "NCIS: LA" episode, Hetty (Linda Hunt) calls in Operational Psychologist Nate Getz (Peter Cambor) to help Sam (LL Cool J) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) cope with their traumatic experience. As we saw in the premiere, "Ascension," Deeks was questioning his future as a cop, with Sam paying him a visit in his hospital room at the right moment to tell him it would be a mistake for him to leave the job. However, even as the episode ended, the LAPD detective was questioning things, packing up a box, and while he left it behind when Sam and Callen interrupted his and Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) talk and the four headed out for drinks, we had a feeling they wouldn't just forget about it and have everything be okay. We were right.
The "Impact" promo to the left begins with a plane crash, the episode's case, as the team will be investigating the murder of a former Navy Admiral and a controversial journalist aboard that private jet, which was sabotaged. But the rest of the promo is about Deeks, and Hetty is worried. As we can see, Sam is back in the field, but Deeks isn't. "I don't want him back if he's not the man he was," Hetty says, but can Deeks ever be the man he was before the torture?
