The CBS procedural “NCIS” claims to be the TV’s most watched television show. The series starring Mark Harmon is consistently in the top spot in weekly ratings. The series which was a spin-off from the now defunct CBS series “Jag” has its own spin-off, “NCIS: Los Angeles” starring Chris O’Donnell and rapper turned actor L.L. Cool J. Now there is word that after four seasons, “NCIS:LA” will spin-off a new procedural starring two TV vets. John Corbett (Northern Exposure) and Kim Raver (24, Lipstick Jungle) will play the lead roles of NCIS Red Team members on a new series being developed. On Tuesday’s episode of “NCIS” Los Angeles” some of the characters of the will series will be introduced to viewers in what is called a backdoor pilot. The episode “Red” will service a mini pilot much the same way it’s predecessors were introduced on the parent shows.
The new “NCIS” series which has been reported as being unnamed or sometimes referred to as “NCIS: Red” will follow an elite group of agents who respond to incidents around the country. The series also stars Scott Grimes (ER), Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho), Gillian Alexy (Damages), Edwin Hodge (Jack & Bobby) and the character of NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger played by Miguel Ferrer will also be a series regular. CBS hasn’t announced a complete list of primetime shows it plans to pick up for the upcoming television season. However if the series were to air next season, it would be the first successful launch of a fourth generation spin-off. Part one of the “NCIS: Los Angeles” episode titled “Red” airs Tuesday March 19 at 9 p.m. on WGCL-TV in Atlanta, Comcast channels 9/809 and AT&T U-Verse 46/1046. Check your local listings for specific channel information in your area.
