On Sunday, November 10, NCIS cast members Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, and David McCallum will appear on Homeward Bound, a live four-hour national telethon to support American veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Hosted by Alan Alda and Joe Mantegna, and co-hosted by Connie Francis, Homeward Bound is presented by Haven from the Storm and will be broadcast from the American Legion Hall #43 in Hollywood from 6 to 10 p.m. on the Military Channel (Discovery Communications). A good portion of the evening will be devoted to veterans' and families testimonials about the difficulties they faced once they came home from service in World War II, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and other military operations.
The broadcast will feature celebrities, music and comedy entertainment, telethon results and profiles of charities that will benefit from the telethon, with phone banks manned by veterans, celebrities, and dignitaries. In addition to the NCIS cast, celebrities Jason Bateman, James Brolin, Michael Feinstein, Charlie Hirsch, Gloria Loring, Kevin Spacey, and Ben Vereen are among those that will appear or perform.
Homeward Bound Executive Producer is Gary Smith, whose team Smith-Hemion has won 25 Emmys Awards over the years. Smith has produced the Tonys, the Emmys, and the People's Choice Awards in the past. Lee Miller is Producer and Gail Purse is Co-Producer/Talent Executive.
This isn't the first time NCIS cast members have been involved in sponsoring or participating in charity functions. In fact, Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto), is a vocal and active supporter of a variety of causes including, animal rights, civil rights, gay rights, and Habitat for Humanity. Mark Harmon has been involved in raising awareness and funds, for children's charities in particular, for more than 15 years.
