The CBS drama "NCIS," starring Mark Harmon, has been renewed for the 2013-2014 season, according to a Feb. 1, 2013 press announcement from CBS Television Network. CBS announced that "NCIS" and series star and executive producer Mark Harmon have had their contracts extended.
"In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the #1 show on television," said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Corporation, according to the press release. "NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today’s global content ecosystem – high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform."
"NCIS" is currently in its tenth season, so the extension means that the popular drama will return for season 11. The series delivers an amazing average of 22.86 million viewers, according to information from CBS. "NCIS" is also an international hit, licensed in more than 200 markets.
"NCIS" is a mystery/drama with a military theme, as the team of special investigators, led by Special Agent LeRoy Gibbs (Mark Harmon), looks into murders involving Navy personnel.
