It is the middle of the 2013 NCAA football season, and many thought that the contenders had been separated from the pretenders by this point, but "Upset Saturday" proved differently. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, shocked everyone as seven ranked teams were upset by lower-ranked Top 25 teams or those that weren't even ranked at all.
This is added to the huge upset that happened on Friday evening when unranked Central Florida scored the biggest win in their school history. They organized a monster comeback to defeat the then eighth-ranked Louisville Cardinals by a score of 38-35.
Everyone was focused on the huge Saturday night clash between number three Clemson and number five Florida State. It was known that one undefeated team would get its first loss of the season, but no-one expected Florida State to demolish Clemson 51-14.
While the focus went to that evening, there were a number of other big teams falling throughout the day.
The sixth-ranked LSU Tigers were being dominated by Ole Miss early on before putting together a great comeback to tie the game. The Rebels kicked a last-second field goal to upset LSU 27-24.
Johnny Manziel and seventh-ranked Texas A&M tried a frenzied comeback of their own, but 24th-ranked Auburn won 45-41.
Number 13 Stanford was looking to avoid a second straight loss and they did by easily disposing of ninth-ranked UCLA 24-10.
The Tennessee Volunteers have had a really rough season, but they put together a full game on Saturday to pull a big upset. Steve Spurrier and the 11th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks fell to Tennessee 23-21.
There was another upset in the SEC as the Vanderbilt Commodores shocked 15th ranked Georgia and handed them their third loss of the season by a score of 31-27.
Finishing off "Upset Saturday" was 20th-ranked Washington also taking their third loss of the year. Arizona State improved to 5-2 by defeating the Huskies 53-24.
While not necessarily an upset as far as rankings go; 14th-ranked Missouri stayed unbeaten by taking down 22nd-ranked Florida and handing them their third loss on the season.
