On Saturday, March 30, 2013, two big-time games took place to determine the first two participants in the Final Four.
The first game saw fourth-seeded Syracuse destroy number three Marquette 55-39. This was just an ugly game on both sides, but the Orange persevered and became the first team to advance to this year's Final Four in Atlanta.
Saturday's second game saw the ninth-seeded Wichita State Shockers take down the number two seeded Ohio State Buckeyes 70-66. The final score is a lot closer than the game really ended up being, and the Shockers became the second nine-seed to ever advance to the Final Four.

The first game on Sunday, March 31, 2013, the fourth-seeded Michigan Wolverines led from the early going on the third-seeded Florida Gators and never trailed. Michigan came out on fire and demolished the Gators 79-59 to advance to the Final Four.
During the second game on Sunday, the competition was hot between Louisville and Duke, but something much more gruesome took center stage. Louisville's Kevin Ware suffered a horrific leg injury near the end of the first half that is simply being called a broken leg, but those that saw it happen, knew it was much more serious than that.
