Saturday's NCAA football 2013 live stream and TV games will include many of the top-ranked teams in the land as they continue their early seasons en route to a potential national championship run. Among them will be Oregon, currently ranked at 2 or 3, depending which poll one consults. The Ducks will visit the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon with the college football game live streaming and televised for sports fans.
According to an ESPN preview report on Sept. 7, the Oregon Ducks come into this contest after registering an impressive 66-3 win last weekend which included 772 yards of total offense in under 20 minutes on the field. Their opponents, Nicholls State, had less than half that with 343 yards, averaging 3.9 yards a play. The 772 yards of offense was a school record for the Ducks, who also moved up one spot in the rankings after their season-opening win.
Also coming into the game at 1-0 will be the Virginia Cavaliers, who will be hosting today's game at Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers didn't have as big a rout, but instead made a comeback against BYU in their opener to win 19-16. When asked about this weekend's game and the opponents, Virginia head coach Mike London had the highest praise for the Ducks, comparing him to that of the Green Bay Packers. London told reporters:
"Their team forces a lot of turnovers. They score a lot of touchdowns. And their two corners are probably the two best corner tandems in college football. What we're going to have to make sure we pay particular attention to is the ability of their linemen. Kind of the 3-4 defense we'll see it again. But they can run. Their whole team can run."
This season for the Ducks marks the start of the Mark Helfrich era for the team, after Chip Kelly left for the NFL back in January. Helfrich was the offensive coordinator with the team from 2009 through 2012, making him an understudy of Kelly's offense. Also departing for the NFL were several players including No. 3 overall draft pick, defensive end Dion Jordan, who is now on the Miami Dolphins. Also leaving the team were defensive stars Michael Clay and Kiko Alsonso. Despite the departures, the early game has the Ducks looking good, but today's opponent may be slightly tougher than Nicholls State.
Current odds for today's game favor the Oregon Ducks by 23 1/2 to 24 points. The over/under is currently set at about 61-64 points depending on which sports book one consults. Weather reports indicate that there's only a 10% chance for precipitation in Charlottesville where temperatures will hit highs in the low 80's and lows in the 60's.
