A three-peat in sports is a hard thing to come by, and it's even harder in college athletics. Tonight Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide will begin their journey down the three-peat road when they kick off their 2013 season vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies and NCAA fans can catch all the action via live stream online or on TV thanks to ESPN and WatchESPN.
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron has been the team leader on offense, but is he in shape to play at 100% today vs. the Hokies?
According to an ESPN report on Aug. 31, the Bama quarterback is wearing a walking boot but will play Saturday against Virginia Tech. McCarron is wearing the boot because of an ingrown toenail, Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed to ESPN's Chris Fowler.
"AJ practiced all week, will play tomorrow and [wearing the boot] is just a precautionary measure," an Alabama spokesperson told ESPN.
On paper this looks like an easy win for the Tide, but going into Blacksburg is never an easy thing for an opponent to do, but this game will have more of a Bowl game atmosphere when the No. 1 Crimson Tide take on Virginia Tech at the Georgia Dome.
It may be a "home" game for for V-Tech, but they would rather be playing this one in their own backyard!
V-Tech QB Logan Thomas and the Hokies are a huge underdog, but expect Frank Beamer to pull off any and all of his tricks as he knows it's not often that you start the season at home vs. the number one team in the country.
