After a rough patch of games down the stretch, a March 9, 2014 AP report states Michigan State can still put itself in a great position going forward as it faces Ohio State in today’s featured NCAA basketball TV/live streaming schedule game on CBS and CBS-Sports online.

The Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, will be filled to capacity this afternoon to see if the (22-8, Conf: 9-8) Ohio State Buckeyes can deal a devastating blow to the (23-7, Conf: 12-5) Michigan State Spartans’ Big Ten and NCAA Tournament hopes.

Opening tipoff for the national TV broadcast as well as the (Internet) live stream is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST (3:30 p.m. CST/2:30 p.m. MST/1:30 p.m. PST) on CBS (CBS-4 Miami & CBS-Sports Live) following the conclusion of the MVC Tournament Final between Indiana State and second-ranked Wichita State.

For Michigan State, a win over the Bucks this afternoon, coupled with a loss by ninth-ranked Nebraska, could make the Spartans the second seed in this year’s Big Ten Conference tourney. Needless to say, Tom Izzo & Co. feel extremely fortunate to even be in this position considering the barrage of injuries suffered in the late going of this season.

“We’ve got to get on the road now and get to the Final Four,” said Adreian Payne, MSU’s second-leading scorer who missed seven games due to an injured foot. “There have been a lot of excuses. Now, it's time to man-up and do what we need to do.”

For Ohio State, if NCAA basketball oddsmakers are correct, the Buckeyes will have a legitimate shot at spoiling the Spartans’ chances. According to Las Vegas’ latest betting spreads, OSU [-3½] is favored to defeat MSU [+3½] by just under two buckets, and the OVER/UNDER equals 130 points.

“I think we’re lacking in a confidence issue, we’re lacking a toughness issue in terms of playing through situations,” OSU head coach Thad Matta assessed his team’s situation this week. “Those are things that somehow, some way, we’ve got to get corrected.”
