The 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament filled out its brackets today. Among the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament teams are the Washington State Cougars and the No. 1 overall seed Arizona State Sun Devils of the Pac-10 Conference. The Cougars played very well again this season, and it was rewarded with their second straight season of being invited to the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Joining them are seven other Pac-10 Conference teams, making the total number of Pac-10 teams playing for a chance at the 2010 College Baseball World Series eight.
With eight teams in the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament, the Pac-10 Conference tied for the most of any conference this year. The SEC also has eight teams, but has 12 total teams, making the Pac-10 tally of eight out of 10 even more impressive. It also shows how tough it has been for teams like Washington State University and UCLA to deal with a brutal regular season against some very tough competition. Maybe what this has done is prepare all of the Pac-10 teams to compete during the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament, and possibly elevate one of them to win the 2010 College World Series.
LSU, the school which won the 2009 College World Series, is in the same bracket as the No. 6 seeded UCLA Bruins. That could make it an extremely tough Los Angeles Regional, and could be a tough series of games for UCLA to escape. Oregon State, which won the College World Series in both 2006 and 2007 returns in the Gainesville Regional, where they will have to beat No. 3 overall seed Florida if they want to make it to the Super Regional.
Pac-10 Teams in 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament: Arizona State, UCLA, Washington State, Arizona, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford, and California. Games get started on Friday, June 4th for each of the Regional tournaments.
