Is President Obama and the government using the fiscal cliff crisis as a means to confiscate guns and invoke martial law?
According to a video posted to YouTube on Sunday, Dec. 30, that's the plan.
The video captures a caller to the Pastor Butch Paugh radio show on Saturday night. The caller identifies himself as a Lt. McCoy, a police officer from North Carolina for 31 years. He claims the government is using the fiscal cliff crisis to cover a move to invoke martial law in the US over the next 30 to 45 days.
The resulting economic collapse will give local law enforcement agencies, allegedly directed by the federal government, the power to confiscate guns from citizens. The caller claims that his police department has accelerated training, is compiling lists of gun owners, and will be using surveillance drones to accomplish the task more quickly and efficiently.
According to Lt. McCoy, the federal government is enlisting local officers in the scheme, providing sophisticated military equipment and training the police to target gun owners, confiscating their weapons.
Referring to the allegedly clueless local cops as "droid heads," pumped-up on steroids, McCoy says, "I've been in law enforcement 31 years here and I've never seen anything like it in my life."
Can this be true?
Admittedly, the radio show is a lightning rod for conspiracy theorists and it's impossible to tell whether "Lt. McCoy" is a real police officer or not. No mention of the legal status of the gun owners is made. Can it be criminals who are being targeted?
Time will tell. As for the fiscal cliff issue, it was announced on Monday that a temporary compromise has been reached, but the crisis has yet to be averted and an economic downturn may still be the result.
What do you think? Is President Obama using the fiscal cliff issue to negate the Second Amendment? Or is this just another conspiracy theory without merit?
