NBC10: Philadelphia Eagles hope to freeze New Orleans Saints out of NFL playoffs

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-6) host the New Orleans Saints (11-5) in a highly-anticipated National Football League Wild Card game at 8:10 p.m. EST on NBC10 Philadelphia tonight.

The NFC East champions, who are making their first playoff appearance since the 2010 season, haven't won a playoff game since the 2008 postseason and haven't won a playoff game at home since the 2006 postseason. Philadelphia led the morning line as 2.5 favorites, which obviously reveals the public's belief that a close game will be played.

As 'reverse black catting' goes, superstition may prove to be helpful. Science will also have its say, as frigid temperatures for the Saturday night contest won't be comparable to the controlled atmosphere within the Saints 'Superdomed' home.

Underscoring Chip Kelly's better-than-expected first-year coaching progress and his quarterback's (Nick Foles) totally unexpected first-place NFL passer rating ranking (119.2), is the forced admonition that a massive majority of the fan base hadn't accurately analyzed 'their team' once again.

Blind loyalty to former coach Andy Reid previously skewed local public perception to such a deep degree that the end arrived a few seasons before supporters were able to acknowledge defeat. Owner Jeffrey Lurie's cleansing of his dysfunctional football family then directly resulted in the birth of a new era.

Whether the Eagles are able to advance beyond this first playoff round shouldn't be used as the ultimate measurement standard. The simple act of downloading printable playoff passes has already made every ticket holder a winner, as those who aren't able to attend in-person will see from the confines of their cozy homes.
