NBC shakes up Thursday night lineup with 2014 fall schedule

There's movement at NBC as a couple of fan favs are ready for their curtain call and one of last year's breakout hits is heading for a new night. Final seasons for "Parks and Rec" and "Parenthood" highlight the network's fall line up, released on Monday, May 12 during the NBC Upfronts press conference.

Probably the biggest news out of the announcement is the shake up on Thursday night. For years, it has consisted of two hours of comedy preceding a drama, having seen the likes of "Cheers", "Seinfeld", "Friends", and "The Office" sit atop as ratings kings. But the network is trimming back the comic fat and injecting it with a little more drama. This fall, the lineup will consist of "The Biggest Loser", a new series called "A to Z", and "Parenthood".

Speaking of "Parenthood", this season will be the the popular drama's fifth and final when it bows after it wraps in 2015. This will also be the final season the longest running NBC series. "Parks and Recreation" will call it quits after its seventh season. The only catch is, there's no word on when or where "Parks and Rec" will air when it does indeed return.

The big move on the NBC schedule really won't take place until after the NFL season. "The Blacklist" will start on Mondays, but then will be featured in the post Super Bowl slot on February 1, 2015, before setting up shop on its new night and time on Thursday, Feb. 1.

As for new series heading to the NBC airwaves, the big question mark centers around "Constantine". Based on the DC Comic, "Hellblazer", the show centers on supernatural detective John Constantine, who has literally been to hell and back. If it sounds familiar, you probably saw the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves.
