NBC's 'The Event': The secret even the President does not know.

Imagine a secret so secret that the President of the United States of America is not on the Need-To-Know list—one that would change the course of history were it to become widespread public knowledge.

Sounds like a great premise for an intense action-suspense drama. It's so good that NBC has utilized it as the basis for the highly anticipated television drama 'The Event', scheduled to debut September 20, 2010. The description above was taken directly from the trailer. Few television series have generated this much abject curiosity prior to their debut and no event since someone shot J.R. Ewing has been kept so secret by a publicity hungry television studio.

So what is the Event that will change television history?

According to Wikipedia, "The Event follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), a man who, while investigating the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, ends up unraveling the biggest cover-up in U.S. history; a coverup which shapes the very core of mankind as a whole, whose implications are lifechanging."

According to Access Hollywood, what is being covered up and what the event is, is currently the best kept secret in Hollywood. So secret, in fact, that most of the cast do not know what the Event that drives the plot really is. Despite repeated attempts to pry the secret from the cast, Access Hollywood has been unable to get an answer to this public relations mystery.

The promotional clips for the series are a masterpiece of ambiguity as to the exact nature of the situation that forces the President to contemplate the most profound act of his political career. If you watch them with the mindset of the consensus paradigm, several possibilities come to mind: The well-worn notion of impending destruction of an American city by a terrorist nuclear device; the release of an unstoppable genetically designed plague; a planetary extinction level event cause by an impending meteor strike or something even worse. Whatever that might be.

There is an event in the first episode, apparently an attack upon the President by forces unknown, but that is not the event, which remains a closely guarded trade secret. According to Blair Underwood, who plays President Elias Martinez, a Cuban-American proud of his heritage, the true nature of the event will be apparent to the audience by the second episode, but the answer to that question will only engender many more questions which will be progressively answered as the series continues. And that statement itself is a clue.

You don't have to wait until the second episode to find out what drives the plot of 'The Event' and has Hollywood and the fall viewing audience in suspense.

[OK. If you are reading this, you asked for it]

The secret in the character dossier that Laura Innes is contractually forbidden to reveal is that her character, a mysterious and powerful leader of a group of detainees in at the Mount Inostranka facility in Alaska—think Gitmo on ice—is an alien being outwardly indistinguisable from indigenous humans. She is the leader of but one alien faction who is busy influencing world events. For that reason, Innes is probably the only one of the cast and crew outside the producers and scriptwriter who has a clear picture of the event.

The Event facing the President of the United States is the disclosure to the American public of the reality of alien life operating on Earth.

And he is facing a deadline for disclosure that is forcing his hand. The clock is ticking. Think '24' meets the X-Files.

The clues to the plot are readily decoded by anyone who has studied the UFO phenomenon and, more to the point, the development and implementation of United States public information policy on the issue over the last six decades, as the behavior of the characters in the trailers mirror that of their real life counterparts.

The series revolves around the problem of how -- and what would force you -- to tell a society that the reality they actually live in includes non-human intelligent life -- some of which has been visiting Earth before mankind as it thinks it knows itself was created. And the series is itself part of a novel solution to that vexing social problem.

Before you blame me for spoiling the plot, know that New York Magazine has already published the secret of the event. And realize that this ground breaking treatment will still bear attentive viewing as the series works its way through the laybryinth of implications of the basic plot. There are a nearly insurmountable mountain of problems associated with the act of disclosure.

Disclosure of the secret of 'The Event' by no means spoils the impact of this series or ruins its entertainment value. Indeed, knowing the real-life back story behind the script can only intensify the viewing experience.

Trust me, there will be enough plot twists built into the issue to keep everyone wondering around the water cooler for the run of the series just what complication will surface next or how the unwitting protaganist, the President, the head of the NSA, the leader of the alien faction and supporting cast of characters will behave in light of the latest episode's revelations.

Whether or not this is the most important secret in history, it is by now one of the most complicated to unravel. And unraveling it for themselves as the series progresses is perhaps the most important step a viewer can take in their lifetime towards a more accurate understanding of the world we actually live in.

As we will see in this series of articles, the real problem is how a society can re-educate itself. What is required is an acknowledgment by the society of a different understanding of reality than what they have depended upon for decades -- not the disclosure of a questionable alternate reality by a government with a track record of stonewalling and spin to a population ill-prepared to assimulate the truth. On this issue, a Presidential press conference is powerless, and potentially counter-productive.

It may be that The Event is the event we've been waiting for. Perhaps disclosure begins not with a bang but with a whisper.

It turns out that perhaps the only way out of the intellectual trap western technological society has created for itself is for each citizen to do his or her homework. The responsible literature to do so is in short supply, but it is available.

Sensible dialog is desperately needed on this issue. Debate on subject has been hopelessly polarized between the so called 'believers' a meme implying uncritical thinking to the mainstream and the so-called 'debunkers' and 'skeptics' a meme implying deliberate obtusification of the secret truth to those who have read the literature.

Neither term is accurate in its implied meaning. For that matter, neither is 'UFO', which has become, unfortunatly, synonymous with 'alien spacecraft'. The genre needs a new lexicon, as Leslie Kean points out in her New York Times best-seller "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record" which is currently 30 and rising on the New York Times best-seller list for very good reason.

To appreciate The Event, ask yourself this question:

What would YOU do if you were sitting in the oval office and discovered a society-changing truth was buried deep within the inherited national security apparatus of your administration and that matters were coming to a head that force you to try to tell the American public that everything they were taught in schools and religious instituions and know to be true is, well, inaccurate?

How real can fictional television be? Let's start by asking one question:

Is it plausible that the President would not know something supposedly this important?

Next Segment: The Missing Times.

This is article 1 of a five part series discussing the significance of the NBC television series 'The Event', which will premiere on September 20, 2010. The series appears to be the beginning of an effort to inform the American public of the reality of the UFO and alien life on Earth.

You had me at Presidential no need to know. This can trivialize or educate on the issue depending on how intelligent the script, dialog and plot.

Television in the past tended to dumb down subjects to the level that it does more damage to the real issues than inform and spur interest. Yet in the last few years producers have realized that intelligent plots, plausible events and outcomes are better received in ratings.

If the writers did their homework, they would find very interesting and compelling scenarios that are actually in play and have then a depth of recognition and deep emotional response with the audience. They need only take direct from many of the current books and writings out there. IF they did the homework.

I will watch with a keen eye on media response and public opinion after broadcast. This could do much in bringing to light the reality of the subject. If such a functional understanding can be inculturated without too much pedantic invention, we could actually see a visible swelling of interest and support in demanding disclosure, in spite of the face-governments clueless denial.

  • MrHajji 1 year ago

Yes, it was obvious to many of us after seeing the trailer what the premise would be. This is surely NBC's answer to "V". I have two hopes for this show: first and foremost: that the dialogue and plot will give this topic intelligent treatment rather than the typical 'let's scare the masses' scenarios seen in most commercial productions of this genre. I secondly hope that viewers who haven't yet guessed the premise will not be turned off once they realize it's "another UFO show."

Time will tell, huh? Nice job, Larry.

I tell you what would really blow everyones mind is if you could get Barak Obama, Secretary Gates, Gen Patreus to come on afterwards and say. "what you have seen on this series is very much real, but details have been witheld for purposes that cannot be disclosed in the best interest of not just the United States but the human race as a whole.

We chose a fictional format because it was the best way we could disclose without disclosing a reality the human race just isn't quite ready to handle emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

It can't be that fast, Anon. We are talking about reeducating an entire society that has been well-educated and miss-informed as a matter of public policy.

"The Event" is just the first shot, although I suspect it will be a significant one.

Call it another 5-6 years at the least before you see the kind of formal disclosure with a big 'D" that the advocates are so adamant about advocating. It will take that long for the reality of the issue to sink in.

So that when the actual real version of the event depicted in "The Event" happens everyone will go: "yeah, we know, so what?".

    Which is the goal.

If you are going to do it in the vision of the X files dont pull any punches. Speak of the Gulf of Aden, why so many intl militaries and research vessels are there, the concerns, what had to be done in the Gulf of Mexico with BP concerning the Gulf of Aden. The blood sacrafices concerning 911 The Pillars (11) are having to be performed to save humanity from a race of beings that cannot be let into this dimension. Looking glass technology is being used to anticipate what their move might be but ritual majik is having to be carried out just like in the days of old (Cannanite God) to save the human race as a whole from destruction from these beings. So some innocents must die in ritual majik ceremonies to save the many

You could go pretty far down this rabbit hole if you wanted
Let it loose don't hold back. If a big secret order threatens you...tellem to go F themselves

The Gulf of Aden is between Somalia and Yemen. To coin a phrase, it's a wretched hive of scum and villiany. The Uss Cole you might remember was bombed there. The gulf is known by the nickname "Pirate Alley" due to the large amount of pirate activity in the area. These are not the yo ho and a bottle of rum variety either. The Somali economy has come to depend on piracy and all ships must funnel through Aden to get to the red sea countries. Despite the threat of piracy, this waterway is essential to trade. You have no other way to get the ships in and out. Look at a map. That's why there is so much international security.

Has anyone seen last year's "Defying Gravity"? It basically covers a lot of this from a different angle and was axed before the first season finished on ABC. Great acting/writing...critical of those seeking to cash in at the public's and scientific-knowledge's expense.

  • Tomalak 1 year ago

I was so disappointed when Defying Gravity was canned. The DVD set has the unreleased episodes in the series and comes to a mind-blowing season conclusion. Perhaps the project was a bit too ambitious as the spaceship crew of very well developed characters were on a mission to visit all of the planets in our system but only reached Venus by the end of the season. To make the grand tour would make for a very long running series!
The program was never truely promoted nor given much of a chance. Sometimes these shows need time to develop an audience. I often don't become interested in a series until second or even third season.(Happens a lot actually. I'm forever having to chase down Box sets) Sadly, I feel The Event will probably get the same treatment.

About time. The whole (real) Disclosure issue is getting moldy from sitting on the shelf for so long. Let's get on with it. Humankind is entitled to the truth and we can handle it.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Its just another movie to keep you entertained while the truth and reality remain unchanged... ammm.. where is my popcorn!??

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

This sounds like another bit of dillusional spin to me - just like the hype built around the fake abduction scam movie Fourth Kind - done simply to promote audience numbers. You look at the actual advertisements on TV for this and they say its another "Lost", meaning another pile of meaningless overhyped crap with no logic of comprendable story structure that goes nowhere.

  • Larry Lowe 1 year ago

You'll have to trust me on this one, Anon. I know the difference. "The Fourth Kind' was the worst kind of confabulation and I took them to task for it in an earlier column.

    http://tinyurl.com/2dqhq6k

We will see disclosure take place on the air in this series and that will put the concept in a lot of people's minds.

Where the series goes with it is anyone's guess. The field is so complicated that anything is possible.

But I'm convinced "The Event" is in itself a form of disclosure.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I'm glad to see you weren't taken in by "The Fourth Kind" which used all sorts of misleading advertisements and viral web based hype to bump audience numbers. I guess we will just have to wait and see if this is just another case of marketing used to bump audience numbers based on falsely raised expectations that this has anything to do with real extra-terrestrial encounters. Note that I do believe there will probably be some sort of future disclosure but I believe this will come from the ETs and not from earthly governments who desire to keep us in the dark about anything they might know about this.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Maybe, just maybe, this show is a subtle way to get people ready for the inevitable-"DISCLOSURE"

We've all heard the stories of benevolent beings(Nordics, Paledians) - which our ancestors referred to as "Gods", watching over us since the beginning of time and also stories of malevolent ones(grays, reptilian) abducting and experimenting on people and mutilating our cattle. What if the government black ops or the PTB are really being forced by the good guys to come clean or they'll just show themselves to the world of their existence. I think 2012 is not about fear & destruction but about humanity finally being made aware that we are just a small part of a huge Universe teeming with life and that its time to put down our war toys if we want to join this galactic community. Its been said these beings are telepathic acting as one for the good of their species. Can you imagine if humanity were given this capability? The 7 deadly sins would disappear overnight. Sounds like a utopian society does it not? I wish to someday live in that world. Peace to all!!

Hey Da Vid, I realize that, in our desperate attempt to open the eyes of our fellow man, we get anxious, but spouting a long list of research topics in caps is like asking a chick at a bar if she puts out as a pick up line. It's too much and only serves to drive folks away.

YES, everyone, it's an interesting bit of lore, and there have been many researchers who have stumbled across this info and gone mad, quite a few who have written and spoken both eloquently and earnestly about it and even a few who got close to getting it right. BUT, rewriting and re-organizing the entirety of, not only human history, but the way in which we approach and conceptualize the reality around us takes such a scope and depth that few are capable of staying on track. Firstly, it's a hugely taxing multi-disciplinary mental excercise encompassing every subject we've yet qualified as distinct and bringing them down to a holistic level that will allow a grand unification theory to be even slightly comprehensible to the lay person. Secondly, you have to remember to eat and bathe while you absorb it all.

I've got a master's degree in this stuff by now, and I see it in emerging in the popular culture bit by wretched bit. I see the lies planted in to fuel skepticism and delay full acceptance. I see political twists thrown in to get everyone to say "Awww, poor government!" As if they had no choice. I also see a grand basis being seeded in the public mind to justify another round of 'Divine Right of Kings.' And THAT'S what is most troubling.

Even if there were a race of human descended from these Nephilim, Deva, Angel (Anglo?) bloodlines who would go to the lengths of incest and arrainged marriages to keep that blood pure (justify and freakish elite actions anyone?) I AM FREE AND FREE-THINKING! I am a creation that can create, and as such I am un-rulable.

If there are super races of aliens or even the gods of old among us who think they can once more subjugate my fellow man, SUCK OFF! I for one will go down fighting before you get the keys to my house or the future of my race again. The massive awakening that seems to be going on is a slap in the face in turn for all those you've dished out with deny deny deny and a lifetime of distraction media, dumbed-down culture, and intentional lies which have literally murdered millions in the last century alone.

For those of you who think me as insane and nonsensical as Da Vid and his list, hey, higher IQ than Einstein and CCR in my truck at all times. It doesn't make me a freak or a nut to have encountered unbelievable information and researched it with skepticism and discernment that you guys may not have encountered. It doesn't make me better or worse, higher or lower than anyone else. Just means I hit the coffee and cigs a bit harder and approach everything with a sharper mind and eye than I did before.

I don't know if it was that sharpness or the caffine and nicotine that makes you more "awake," but I'm glad I am. I invite you all to join the journey to fact, not truth, that these idiots are trying to release painfully slowly. Let's get our voices loud and just tell them to rip the friggin' band-aid OFF!

If you're going to tell us, then tell us. If you're going to keep listening to the Tri-Laterals and Brzezinskis and think you can come out the other side of this in more control and power without most of you at the T O P getting lynched, better think again buddy boy!

Nave you actually seen the series Larry or are you just relying on some "leak" from someone doing public relations and promotion for NBC?

  • Profile picture of Larry Lowe
    Larry Lowe 1 year ago

Fair question, Anon. I'm glad you asked.

I am not doing viral marketing for NBC. In fact if they thought they could prove I had violated a non-disclosure by revealing what I believe this leading to, I'm sure they would have suppressed me by now.

Like all good reporters with a history in their field of interest, I have contacts to talk to.

My interest in NBC getting ratings is purely to enlarge the circle around the water cooler on Tuesday morning willing to discuss openly the issue that ET might be real and that the UFO (some tiny percent of them) might be what we thought we were waiting for.

To that extent, if I can garner them another point of market share, my mission is served.

But they are not paying me to hype their series.

And there is still the slim chance I'm reading the tea leaves wrong.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

i want to believe it is a slow disclosure which is not what we need, but from all the hype that is already surrounding it i have to believe it is just another way to scoop up ratings especially hmmm how convenient that it has already been leaked what the secret event is

  • Profile picture of Larry Lowe

See my response to the above. If I was viral marketing for NBC, I'd be trying to misdirect you into thinking that "The Event" is something other than ET related. Nobody leaked anything to me. But I've been at this long enough to recognize the scenario when I see it.

What would YOU do if you were sitting in the oval office. What would I do? Simple, Make a T V Program to help with the disclosure EVENT. • Anonymous 1 year ago

Having now seen two episodes, I will have to agree that this is at least the ET oriented conspiracy you talked about. Although I wasn't a big fan of the first episode, I did find that the story in the second was quite a bit more absorbing.

Now here is my question. Who is fabricating the fake ET disclosure news items coming out in the mass media - is it us or them? (such as the story of the ET ambassador appointed by the UN that made news in the last few days?)
