NBC's 'Smash': Katharine McPhee claims she was considered for 'Hangover'

Katharine McPhee is playing someone trying to make it big on "Smash," and it turns out that the actress had to overcome her share of past rejections before ultimately landing this part.

Speaking to People Magazine in a new interview, the former "American Idol" star revealed that she was at one point considered for a big role in a Todd Phillips film:

"It was between me and the girl who got it for The Hangover [as] the bride ... I didn't get it, but I went all the way. I would have loved to play that part."

In the end, everything has worked out perfectly for McPhee -- her new show is receiving rave reviews, and it has become NBC's biggest new show of the season after just one airing.

Do you think that McPhee could have done a good job in this part?
