In the Pilot episode viewers find out that,Vivian Bowers was murdered. Which leads to Joanna Locasto, (Good) the childhood friend of Vivian, to investigate the crime and get inside information in the house. Joanna, also has a past with Julian Bower(Wes Brown), who might be considered the reckless child of the family. It was revealed the Mia Bower is the daughter of Vivian, and Mia is under the impression her "sister" was murdered.
This week Joanna's plan is to get information in three days regarding the family owned pharmaceutical company, (Joanna has a job as Victor's personal assistant)and getting close to the eldest son Edward (Tate Donovan)
This episode we learn more about the dynamic between the husband and wife. Apparently Robert Bower has been having an affair with his Associate Copy Editor, and she attempts to black mail him saying she's "heard things." The assistant then decided that she would take it to the wife and try to ruin the marriage. It was to no affect, but it did cause Robert and Sophia to have an argument.
Joanna however confronts Edward about his past, and she learns that it was the worst moment of his life. Edward advises Joanna to leave and this isn't the safe play it used to be. She also deals with Julian and his partying life style as his way of dealing with his sisters death.
However at the end of the episode we see that Robert might be behind the death of his daughter. He orders one of his gardeners to assassinate the brother of the Copy Editor to keep her quiet. He might have done the same to his beloved daughter, who knows?
