During last weeks episode of NBC's drama series, viewers as well as the world found out about the Bower's secret; that Mia Bowers is the daughter of Vivian Bowers, the murdered heiress. Now Mia is M.I.A on the lose with her motorcycle boyfriend, Kyle Harris. This episode the Bowers find out who is the baby's father, try to find Mia and another shocking revelation which we have all wondered about.
In the first seven minutes of the episode viewers discover who is the Mia's father. Through a series of Joanna's flash backs we see that Vivian has been seeing an older man. The clue: the cigarette lighter and according to Vivian it was his "thing." Joanna then relates the image of an older man flipping the cigarette lighter the same way and it was none other than US senator David Haverstock. (Its also a reason why the two friends Robert and David aren't on speaking terms anymore.)
Joanna is worried about outing this family secret so she attempts to hide out in her room. Until, she hears Sophia talking to someone on the phone, and whats worse she sneaks a peek into the room to watch her take out some money. Joanna then follows Sophia into the the city into a seedy neighborhood in Harlem. Her partner Will Moreno, warms her to "don't be a dummy." Joanna unfortunately doesn't take the advice and in the end Sophia spots her on the staircase. (Which leads to a confrontation later.)
Mia on the other hand seems to be coping with her family revelation quite differently. The last the viewers saw of her she ran away at her debutante ball. Now she is safely hiding away with Kyle in her friends house. Mia doesn't want to go back to her parents, but she does spend the day shopping with Kyle and upon seeing a picture of a tabloid headline she steals a bottle of wine.
The brothers discovering this new evidence about Vivian decide to handle this in different ways. Julian decides to confront Haverstock, while Edward confronts his father. Both confrontations reveal different sides of the same story. Haverstock admits he slept with Vivian, and she was drugged and drunk when he did it, but he had insurance. He kept the murder weapon that Edward "supposedly" killed the girl with. So it is revealed five episodes later that Edward did kill that girl. However Edward believes that it shouldn't have been covered up and Vivian deserved better than that. ( Later on during the episode Edward tells his wife that they should continue their plan to move to California and admits that he did kill that girl.)
Joanna and Julian eventually find Mia, and they have decided that she will live with Julian for the time being. However when Joanna comes home she finds Sophia waiting for her on the couch with a cup in hand. She laments to Joanna that she hopes that Mia still loves her and asks Joanna does she think Mia will still love her. Joanna agrees. Then Sophia flips the tables on her saying she doesn't believe Joanna and that she has to leave that house. Joanna does have a back up plan and decides to live with Julian and Mia.
