“Chicago P.D.” has taken the network ratings by storm. Fresh off of its inaugural season, NBC announced on March 19 that it was picked up for season number two.

The announcement was made on their official Facebook page, with the caption, ‘Lock and load — #ChicagoPD has been renewed for Season 2!’

The news was subsequent to the renewal of its parent show, “Chicago Fire,” which will be entering its third season this Fall.

“A Material Witness,” the March 19 episode, left fans in limbo as detectives discovered the body of Lonnie Rodiger, the person accused of molesting and killing the brother of Detective Jay Halstead’s high school girlfriend. After its airing, “Chicago P.D.” cast and crew flocked to social media, blowing up their followers’ timelines with the hashtag, ‘#DidHalsteadDoIt,’ sparking a mass frenzy of emotions and theories.

Fans are slated to get their answer when “Chicago P.D.” returns with an all-new episode on Wednesday, April 2.

“Chicago P.D.” stars Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Sophia Bush, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Elias Koteas, and Archie Kao, and airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.
