Dateline” is an investigative program that covers crime in the United States. “Family Business” was reported & narrated by Keith Morrison.

Family Business” opened with scenes of California farmers who have worked the land for generations. In Colusa County, a little boy named Fabian claimed that his father was on fire. His neighbor Brandy called 911 & said that the father turned on a water pipe & it blew up like a bomb. The dad was named Roberto.

On July 16, 2011 Roberto had to flood a rice field from several irrigation pumps. He brought Fabian with him & heard the electrical box explode near the pump. Fabian ran for two miles to Brandy's house for help. Roberto was electrocuted to death by the explosion, which also blew out the windows of his truck. His body completely burned up.

The sheriff's detective began an investigation & gathered up everything from the explosion. It was something that looked like an mere accident, but this explosion was bigger than just an electrical mishap. They called an explosives expert who never heard of any kind of electrical box exploding that big. The expert investigated & came to the conclusion that it was a bomb explosive that killed Roberto. The FBI & the ATF then came to Colusa County.

Pete & Paul Moore were grandsons to a millionaire rich farmer who was closest to Pete. He quickly was exiled from the family after the grandfather died. He moved to a nearby town & began a landscaping business. Paul was the “golden boy” who was married to a local beauty & waited for his family's inheritance. Roberto started out as a field hand & worked his way up to farm manager. There was a rumor that Roberto was going to inherit Pete's share of the family's inheritance.

Paul suspected Pete of killing Roberto & went to the police. Detectives got a search warrant & confiscated everything at Pete's home. Did Pete kill Roberto over the inheritance? Why did his cousin Paul suspect Pete? Who really wanted Roberto dead? You can watch the full episode of “Family Business” at the website of NBC.
