NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers leading chase for Greg Oden

Former 2007 Portland Trail Blazers number one NBA draft pick out of Ohio State University, Greg Oden, is nearing a full recovery from his most recent long run of injuries. According to news from ESPN and quotes from the player himself on Jan. 30, 2013, he is starting to narrow down his list of potential teams that he will be agreeing to return to the NBA with.

According to Oden he is believed to be meeting with officials from the Miami Heat in the coming week as he is set to start negotiations for a return after this summer:

I don't know when, but I'm taking this year off. I'll play next year.

Right now, I'm not worrying about where. I'm only worried about my knee.

The Heat are in need of more physical presence up front and from the dominate showings Oden had while healthy in the NBA and college are any implication of what he will be bringing to the table if he joins forces with LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and Ray Allen is potentially staggering.

However, James' form team, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also anticipated to make a play for Oden as he nears his return. The Cavaliers likewise need much more help in the front court and could potentially offer a larger contract to Oden due to having more leverage in their salary cap room than the star laden Heat.
