NBA trade rumors for 2014 suggest a Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings deal is close. These 2014 NBA trade rumors stem from a pursuit by the Kings for point guard Andre Miller. A report from late Wednesday (Jan. 8), indicates that the Kings have offered Marcus Thornton and a future second-round pick. Another package is said to include Jimmer Fredette and a future second as an alternative.
Miller recently got suspended for two games by the Nuggets for a confrontation he had with coach Brian Shaw. He didn't end up serving that suspension as the team backtracked a bit, but he was excused from team activities. That led to general manager Tim Connelly exploring possible options when it comes to dealing him. The veteran point guard makes $5 million this season and has a non-guaranteed deal for $4.625 million next year.
It is presumed that the intent to bringing Miller to the Sacramento Kings would be to mentor current starting point guard Isaiah Thomas. More 2014 NBA trade rumors may come from this situation, especially if the Nuggets don't have a lot of interest in Thornton or Fredette. Either player could add more energy to the bench in Denver, though, with Thornton possibly giving the team a nice offensive push with the second unit. In regard to fantasy basketball, none of these players appears close to having a significant role down the stretch.
