The NBA schedule for 2013 brings an intriguing matchup Thursday night to television with the OKC Thunder vs. NY Knicks on TNT. Right now, the Thunder continue to be among the top contenders in the league and rank third overall in the standings, trailing only San Antonio in the West. The Thunder vs. Knicks game will also be live streaming online in addition to the televised coverage.
According to a preview of the game on March 7 from ESPN.com, the Knicks could be without their top scorer Carmelo Anthony for this battle with Kevin Durant and the Thunder. Melo currently ranks second in the league in scoring behind Durant as well. Anthony has been listed as questionable for the game due to a nagging knee injury. Forward Rasheed Wallace is also out indefinitely for the Knicks, while Oklahoma City has no significant injuries as of this report.
Both teams are currently on 2-game win streaks, with the Thunder's last win coming against the Lakers and New York's against the Detroit Pistons. Currently the Knicks, with a record of 37-21, are second in the Eastern Conference behind the red hot Miami Heat. However, that impressive streak the Heat has been on has distanced the NBA champs above New York, leaving them 7.5 games back right now. The Thunder will look to gain ground on the Spurs out West, as they are just 3 games back.
New York has lost eight of 10 games in the series with Oklahoma City, but won their last meeting in New York on Dec. 22, 2010. Meanwhile, The Thunder have only won four out of their last 11 road games, although they defeated the playoff-contender Clippers twice. This will be the first game of OKC's current road trip, which will have them playing again tomorrow in Charlotte against the league's worst team record-wise, the Bobcats.
Tonight's Thunder vs. Knicks game in New York has a start time of 8 p.m. EST on TNT. Roanoke viewers can watch the game on TV via Cox Cable channel , or watch it live streaming online here at TNT Overtime.
