First it was Magic Johnson, now Sex.com? Well it may sound funny, but Sex.com may actually save the NBA dunk contest. Every year the contest has its good moments, but long gone are the days of the best of the best facing off to see who is the real king of the court.
Back in the 1980's and 90's, the NBA’s best players used to always enter the dunk contest. Michael Jordan vs. Dominique Wilkens was must see T.V., but the contest has lost its edge over the years. However Sex.com wants to help make it much more interesting - and of course get a million domain name plugs in the mean time!
According to a Mar. 5 story on Bleacher Report "Sex.com is offering $5 million to the charity of Kobe Bryant’s choosing for his participation in the 2014 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. However, this offer is conditional. It depends on Lebron James entering the 2014 NBA Slam Dunk Contest with Bryant."
"Bryant and James are both members of the NBA’s elite and fans often debate who is the better player between the two. Sex.com wants to ensure that basketball fans get to see the two superstars use their talent and creativity."
Sex.com isn't saying anything the NBA fans don't already know, but they are 100% right.
A contest that included LBJ and Kobe would draw a ton more interest and the ratings would be through the roof.
Of course LeBron would be the favorite vs. Kobe and anyone else that was in the contest. Without a doubt James would be 1/3 odds if not more to take home the crown.
Who knows, maybe this little offer will get Kobe motivated and he and LeBron can give the fans something they would want to see - two of the best going at it in the 2014 NBA dunk contest.
