As reported by USA Today on May 5, the 2014 NBA playoffs (conference) semifinals get underway with Game 1 between the Wizards and Pacers. Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, In., will be the site, and courtesy of TNT and TNT Overtime, this game will be televised (nationally) and streaming live (online).

The fifth-seeded Washington Wizards are coming off a quick 5-game series against the Chicago, while the top-seeded Indiana Pacers were involved in a marathon with the Atlanta before finally advancing in seven games. Opening tipoff for tonight’s series opener is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET (6:10 p.m. CT/4 p.m. PT) and the entire schedule for this Eastern Conference semifinal clash goes as follows (All EST):

Game 1 at Pacers: May 5 (7 p.m. ET)
Game 2 at Pacers: May 7 (7 p.m. ET)
Game 3 at Wizards: May 9 (8 p.m. ET)
Game 4 at Wizards: May 11 (8 p.m. ET)
*Game 5 at Pacers: May 13 (If necessary)
*Game 6 at Wizards: May 15, ESPN (If necessary)
*Game 7 at Pacers: May 18 (If necessary)

The visitors come into the opener well rested and plenty of fresh bodies after needing just five games to dispatch the fourth-seeded Bulls in the opening round. According to the Washington Post, from the Wizards’ perspective, there are three keys that will decide he outcome of this best-of-seven series: The matchup between Ariza vs. George, “Minimizing Hibbert” and Washington’s ability to outpace the Pacers.

On the Pacers side, the Indy Star does a great job of breaking down which team has the advantage and where in this matchup. Zak Keefer explains how Washington will hold an edge over the Pacers at the point, shooting guards and center positions, while Indy’s positional advantages exist at the small and power forwards.

However, 2014 NBA playoffs oddsmakers believe that the conference’s top-seed is the tea to beat in tonight’s opener. According to ESPN point spreads, Indiana (-4) comes in as a two-bucket favorite versus Washington (+4), and the OVER/UNDER equals 184 points.
