Trying to fight off elimination at the hands of the Washington Wizards, the Chicago Bulls return to the Windy City hoping some home-cooking helps send this series back to the nation’s capital. According to an April 28 NBA report, the United Center in Chicago, Ill., will be the site for this first-round clash, which will be televised nationally on TNT and streaming live on NBA League Pass and NBA TV Companion.
Opening tipoff is scheduled for tonight at 8:10 p.m. ET (7:10 p.m. CT/5:10 p.m. PT), with the Wizards leading the best-of-seven series 3-1 over the Bulls. As reported by the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday, the outcome of tonight’s game, and perhaps the series, is predicated on the Bulls inability to do the things they can control.
Head coach Tom Thibodeau has implemented a culture built on defense and rebounding. However, somehow through four games, Chicago has done either one consistently. With their backs against the wall, the fourth-seeded Bulls must come out swinging, and treat tonight’s contest as a “big game”, something they also failed to do in Game 4.
In the case of the fifth-seeded Wizards, a Washington Post report depicts how Nene’s absence did little slow down Washington’s momentum. Needing one more victory to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals, Randy Wittman will do his best to make sure this series doesn’t go back to the nation’s capital.
With that said, being on the road for a closeout game is one of the hardest things to subjugate in any sport. To do so, the Wizards must continue to do the things that have gotten them this far: Limit turnovers with smart play, and push the ball with an up-tempo attack.
According to 2014 NBA playoffs oddsmakers, don’t expect the Bulls to go down without a fight this evening though. Las Vegas spreads show that Chicago [-4] is listed as betting favorites by four points versus Washington [+4], and that the OVER/UNDER equals 184 points.
