The 2013 NBA playoff standings have the San Antonio Spurs clearly on top. With just two months until the 2013 NBA Playoffs begin, the Spurs (44-13) are definitely the favorites to clinch home court advantage throughout the postseason. Coming into the games of Feb. 23, the Spurs are three games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
If the playoffs were to begin today, it would be San Antonio vs. the Houston Rockets in the first round. The other match-ups would be the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz, the LA Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors, and the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Denver Nuggets. The team on the left side of each of those match-ups would get home court advantage due to the current NBA standings.
Over in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat have raced out to a 38-14 record to take an early hold on the No. 1 seed there. The team is now 5 1/2 games ahead of the No. 2 Indiana Pacers, showing that Miami might be able to pull in the sails pretty early this season. In the first round of the 2013 Eastern Conference Playoff it would be Miami vs. the Milwaukee Bucks if things remained the same. The other East match-ups would be the Indiana Pacers vs. Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks, and the Brooklyn Nets vs. Chicago Bulls.
The 2013 NBA playoff standings are sure to shift some more before the end of the season, especially with several teams trying to climb into a position to actually make the postseason. The LA Lakers are now 3 1/2 games behind the Rockets in the West and a hot streak has pulled the Toronto Raptors to within 4 1/2 games of the Bucks in the East.
