2013 NBA mock drafts have Kelly Olynyk of the Gonzaga Bulldogs making appearances now. A report from FOX Sports on Wednesday (Jan. 16) shows that Olynyk is finally getting some national exposure, forcing many NBA teams to start taking a closer look at what he can do.
In an updated NBA mock draft from Draft Express, Olynyk is now projected to be the eighth player selected in the second round. It's also worth noting that Gonzaga teammate Elias Harris is projected to be selected later in the second round. Though ESPN doesn't have either Olynyk or Harris on their list yet, continued success in conference play could certainly change that.
In his last two games (played against Santa Clara and Saint Mary's) Olynyk has averaged 32 points and 9 rebounds per game. He has hit on 23-of-34 shots from the field and 17-of-21 shots from the free throw line to help lead Gonzaga to two very impressive wins. On the season, he is now averaging 18.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Maybe even more impressive is that he is hitting on 66.2 percent of his shots from the field and 80.3 percent from the free throw line.
While 2013 NBA mock drafts will continue to be released as the college basketball season continues, Gonzaga Bulldogs fans should be very pleased that Kelly Olynyk may now have a really good chance to take his talents to the next level. The next game for Gonzaga will come against the Portland Pilots on Thursday, Jan. 17, giving Olynyk another chance to put up good numbers in a WCC game.
