The Dallas Mavericks have struggled all season but last night on Jan. 18, 2013, they looked a team determined to try and get back to the playoff hunt with an inspired performance against the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Vince Carter led the Mavericks with 29 points off the bench as the team kept pace with the visitors all night long and managed an impressive last ten seconds of regulation to force an over time quarter in hopes of stealing an all important home victory.
However, the effort of Carter was dwarfed by the continued impressive combination of both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Thunder.
Durant scored 52 points and snagged nine rebounds while Westbrook added 31 points, six assists and six rebounds. Their combined points total of 83 accounted for 70.9 percent of their teams total accumulation of points and bettered the combined 65 point total of the entire Dallas starting line up.
Dallas look to be improving every game at the moment, but there truly appears to be little to no answer for the power of the Thunder in the Western Conference at the moment as their star duo continue to look the best one-two punch in the league.
