Legendary basketball coach, Dr. Jack Ramsay died early Monday morning, under Hospice care at the age of 89. According to family members, Jack Ramsay passed away in his sleep.

Depending on your time as an NBA fan, Jack Ramsay could mean different things to you. From 1976- 1986, "Dr. Jack" coached the Portland Trailblazers and led them to the NBA title in 1977. It's Portland's only title, but that was one of the most versatile teams in NBA history.

Dr. Jack Ramsay's coaching prowess led to a Hall Of Fame induction at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992. According NBA.SI.com, Dr. Jack Ramsay finished with an (864-783) record when he retired in 1988. He finished his career with a .525 winning percentage.

After his coaching stint in the NBA, Dr. Jack provided expertise as an NBA analyst, including an eight year run with the Miami Heat from 1992-2000. The way he explored the game with elegant words, Ramsay could breakdown plays for the common fan.

In May of 2013, Dr. Jack Ramsay had to take a leave from ESPN, during the playoffs, for immediate medical treatment. It was the last time he worked an NBA game and according to ESPN.com, Ramsay stated, "I'll miss doing the broadcasts, but I'll be watching and listening."

Dr. Jack Ramsey started his coaching career in 1968-69 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and retired in 1988-89 from the Indiana Pacers after seven games. He coached four different teams during his coaching career, including the Buffalo Braves.

Dr. Jack Ramsay is was born in Philadelphia, PA and became a legend in his hometown. Although, he won a title as a GM with the Philadelphia 76ers, his lone coaching title came against his beloved 76ers.
