The Navy shooter’s mother spoke to the media today and said she was “glad” that he can no longer do harm to anyone.” This is a sad thing for a mother to have to say about her dead son, but she is feeling the pain that the family of the victims are feeling today.
According to Yahoo on Sept. 18, Aaron Alexis’s mother talked with media but asked that her face not be shown. She said she never thought her son was capable of doing such a horrific act. She also said:
"Our son Aaron Alexis has murdered 12 people and wounded several others," she said in the statement. "His actions have had a profound and everlasting effect on the families of the victims. I don't know why he did what he did and I'll never be able to ask him why."
"Aaron is now in a place where he can no longer do harm to anyone and for that I am glad. To the families of the victims I am so, so very sorry that this happened," she said. "My heart is broken."
The more details that emerge regarding Aaron Alexis, the more of a bizarre and somewhat sad picture is painted. He certainly made enough odd claims to friends, family and police in the past that most anyone should see that he was sick. A police report from Rhode Island in August said that Alexis called police and told them that he was hearing voices and that three men were following him and they were sending vibration through his body.
Just hours after the shooting a pattern emerged from the different police reports around the nation. Alexis had many angry and bizarre encounters with police in all corners of this nation for the last decade. He has a pattern of disturbing behavior and angry outbursts.
Could it be that it was the system that let Alexis down. It sounds like he slipped through the cracks, shifting from one area to another with no one taking the time to say this man has a problem let’s find him some help. What do you think?
