Navy Yard, Fort Hood, Sandy Hook…Where does it end?
Where did common sense go?
None of these tragic events has to do with gun laws.
Law abiding citizens apply for gun permits and legal gun purchases.
Criminals do not recognize laws, much less abide by them. Creating stricter gun laws is not the solution. Criminals will always have their guns and other weapons. The legal and moralistic part of society are the only ones affected when tighter gun laws are put into place. Implementing more restrictions on legal gun owners is not the answer. The street criminals don’t seek out legal avenues for gun ownership. It’s a lucrative business and way of life for many who sell and buy illegally.
It’s very troubling to hear and read about all the research, studies and analytics concerning gun laws. The time and money spent is atrocious.
Let’s re-visit common sense in a simplistic manner. Why are funds continuing to be spent on gun laws? Do they work? Obviously NOT- just like locks only keep honest people out. If the monies were used to clean up the streets, gangs and their underground markets, the world would be a safer place.
Why would lawmakers think MORE gun laws would work when existing ones are only followed by law abiding citizens?
Security measures are sorely lacking, especially in places you wouldn’t expect. Why bother to have safeguards and rules in place if they aren’t going to be enforced? That is the main crux of the matter. Everyone wants to point a blaming finger at someone else. The simple solution is to tighten up security, and enforce specialized training for those in charge of protecting us. Don’t allow exceptions to the rules, even if it is the son of your preacher or daughter of a schoolteacher that is requesting access to a restricted area for example. Everyone needs to be held accountable for their judgment and actions.
Society is allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and unprotected. We are our own worst enemy!
Driving drunk can cause you to lose your driver’s license. Felony convictions can cause you to lose your voter’s rights. Why then, are there so many career criminals out on the streets? Sentencing a convicted felony for possession of a firearm is a common occurrence everywhere. Many have easily racked up 20 or more arrests and convictions before they leave their teens.
We hear the all time excuse of prison over-crowding. The jails should be utilized for those who have no regard for humanity, and who have willingly committed unspeakable violent acts, and who will continue to
re-offend on the outside. Self-sustaining prison farms can/should be used for hard core drug dealers selling narcotics, and prostitutes etc, not taking up space in regular jails.
More and more businesses are practicing in-office security. Requiring employees to wear photo ID, carry access badges to come and go from the office are part of the mainstream now. It is up to us to make certain we are protected in our everyday lives as well. Don’t accept platitudes about gun laws that don’t work. Vote for the leaders who will clean up the streets.
Use our freedom of speech and right to bear arms to make a difference!
