Yesterday, the Department of Defense announced the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, Chief Petty Officer Christian Michael Pike, 31, of Peoria, Ariz., succumbed to combat-related injuries at a military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany.
CPO Pike sustained those mortal injuries on March 10, 2013, while conducting stability operations in Maiwand District, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to the West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit in California.
CPO Pike’s family has not released complete funeral arrangements at this time, however, Arizona governor, Jan Brewer has ordered flags at state office building be lowered to half-staff today.
