Navy SEAL Chris Kyle killed at Texas shooting range

Chris Kyle, 39, a former United States Navy SEAL who gained prominent recognition in the Iraq War is reported by KHOU 11 News to be one of two persons fatally shot southwest of Fort Worth at a shooting range near Glen Rose, Texas on Saturday. Kyle was also the author of the New York Times best-selling book entitled “American Sniper.”

According to the report, Kyle was killed at point-blank gunshot range while assisting another soldier who was recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome. The suspect of the shooting is identified as Eddie Routh, 25, and was captured in Lancaster – a town southwest of Dallas.

The second man killed was a neighbor of the suspected killer. All three men involved in the story were residents of Midlothian, Texas.

Kyle’s book “American Sniper” which was published in 2012 details Kyle’s more-than-150 killings of insurgents from 1999 to 2009 – the year he retired from the Navy SEALS as allegedly the most lethal sniper in United States military history. Kyle was married and had two children. Most recently, he was the president of Craft International, an organization which provides training to military and law enforcement personnel.
