One of the most iconic photos of all time is that of "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima" by Joe Rosenthal. Everyone knows it or has seen it at least one time in their life, and have tried to recreate it on numerous occasions. Well, as revealed by Bleacher Report on Sept. 26, 2013, the Navy men's swimming and diving team recreated the image in epic fashion, underwater.
The men of Navy's swimming and diving team wanted to put a new twist to the well-known photo so they got the entire team involved and went underwater. They then posted the pic to Twitter with this caption:
"Navy Men's Swimming & Diving 2013-2014 Firstie photo. Well done! @NavyMSwim @NavyAthletics"
There is no denying it; this is by far one of the best recreations of the Iwo Jima photo that has ever been done, and the men did a great job.
While the recreation is done perfectly in the center of the pic, and on top of the Navy "N," it was clear they wanted everyone in the pic. So, the other six members of the team stood guard on either side of the recreation with their arms folded and "standing" proud.
Well done, indeed, men. Well done.
