Get ready, because the Blue Angels are coming back to St. Louis. The Navy Blue Angels are coming to St. Louis in 2014 as part of the first air show to be held at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport since 2007. It will be part of the airport’s 50th anniversary, a tribute to active-duty military personnel and veterans as well as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math STEM initiatives Expo.
Due to sequestration, the Blue Angels had been grounded for 2013, but on Monday, October 21; the Blue Angels announced that they are taking to the skies once again, in 2014. St. Louis is among the cities chosen for one of their performances.
In May, 2014, the Blue Angels will be headlining the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show and STEM Expo. There will be numerous flying and ground aircraft displays. in addition to the airshow and the displays, an “Aspire and Achieve Pavilion” will house displays and offer activities with a STEM education emphasis. It will not only be a great opportunity for aviation lovers, but is intended to be a huge boost for STEM education.
The two-day event is being designed to excite kids and young adults and get them interested in STEM education and, ultimately, in STEM careers. Look for more information to be posted to the St. Louis Air Show website as well as on their Facebook Page.
