With less than a month before MegaCon they have released the panel schedule. The convention experience can be very overwhelming, especially with the a convention as grand a scale as MegaCon. Here are some tips for getting the most out of the panels, Q&A's and other panels.
1: Get ready to stand in lines. With thousands of people funneled into a small place with similar interests, lines are just a way of life. Make the most out of lines; make friends, take pictures of cos players, catch up on your live tweeting of the event. Just be ready for the lines and don't get frustrated!
2: Get there early, even if you per-purchase your tickets. If you do not order your tickets, be prepared for an even longer line. If the one event you want to attend is the is the 1pm Vic Mignogna Q&A on Friday and that's the entire reason you want to come to the convention budget at least 2 hours to park and pick up tickets if you've already ordered them (more if you plan on buying onsite).
3: Know the floor plan. Many times the panel you're at and the panel you are going to are clear across Hall D, so knowing your way around will be invaluable.
4: Budget plenty of time for the Vendors room. If you have a 30 minute break between events and want to spend your down time in the vending area, you will not get very far. Senses will be overloaded, the majority of that time will be spent just passing through the aisle. Wait until there is a larger break in your schedule to visit the vending area.
5: Be prepared to wait to meet your favorite celebrities. The celebrity autograph lines flow with the events, some of the bigger celebrities will have very large lines and due to their panel and appearance obligations they may come and go, so know their schedules before committing to their line.
6: Bring a highlighter. Pick up a schedule upon arrival and highlight the events you want to attend. The more people in your group, the more colors you should bring so that you know who is going to be where when.
7: Be kind to the volunteers. Waiting in line after line is difficult, but having manage the people in the line is a thankless job. Being nice to people who are working for free may not get you anything immediately, but you will earn some good karma points.
These tips will help you get the most out of the events of MegaCon, stay tuned for more information and tips on how to get the most out of your convention experience!
