Nautical Flea Market in Islamorada this weekend

A one-of-a-kind boating and marine bazaar called the Gigantic Nautical Flea Market is set for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25-26, at Founders Park, mile marker (MM) 87 bayside on Plantation Key in Islamorada.

Deal-seekers of all ages and interests can check out the boats, boat parts, electronics, marine products, scuba and snorkel gear, dock equipment, nautical arts and crafts, fishing gear and clothing for use in, on or under the water.

Thousands of bargain hunters typically drop in to explore boxes of loose parts to turn up an oddball fitting, or pry out deep discounts on rods, reels, line and lures. Water lovers of all ages come to find tools and toys, art lovers and hobbyists discover a variety of arts and crafts, and sun worshippers simply enjoy a day at the park.

The 17th annual flea market is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26. Breakfast is to be served daily at an all-you-can-eat price of $5 per person.

Admission to the open-air event is free, although a $5 donation to a local scholarship fund is suggested. Complimentary parking and free shuttle transportation from Coral Shores High School, MM 90, are to be available both days.
