Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula pet food recalled

Nature's Variety has issued a voluntary recall of their Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula pet food according to a news report issued Friday (Feb. 15).

The pet food recalled has a "best if used by date" of 10/14/13. The recall was issued because of a consumer complaint of finding small pieces of plastic inside the pet food bag, which could cause a choking issue in pets. Consumers should discontinue feeding the products if they have a bag in the recalled batch of pet food immediately.

The recalled product has been identified as only one batch of pet food, according to Nature's Variety. A refund can be obtained by mailing the unused portion in the bag back to Nature's Variety or get a refund from point of purchase with a receipt.

Consumers should contact their veterinarian if they suspect their pet has ingested any plastic particles.
