Nature playgroup coming to North Minneapolis

This weekend is a "Come Out and Play" nature playgroup, sponsored by Minneapolis Parks and Recreation. In an effort to provide families with opportunities to play outside in nature, two moms and a naturalist from the Parks and Recreation department created this nature club for families in the spring of 2009.

Study after study shows that free play is essential for kids. It's been shown to boost creativity, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. Play is important! And these playgroups are an opportunity for kids -and parents- to do just that.  They can roam and explore with no programmed activities, no direction or rules about what to do and how to do it. Kids are encouraged to romp in the snow, make snow angels, build snowmen, have snow races, whatever outdoor fun they can imagine. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun!

Interested families are encouraged to click on the "nature playgroup" link above for date and time, and then simply show up. There's no registration and no fee involved.
