Starting any new diet is hard. When that diet is strictly gluten free due to Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance, there may be added complications that don’t immediately spring to mind. Make-up, lotion, soap and detergent are products that are easily and often contaminated. It can be hard to tell when this happens due to the many different names that gluten hides under.
Once this is pointed out, the average gluten free consumer will begin the mad product scramble. Checking the products in the house and in the stores looking for hidden contaminants. Gluten free community forums are full of people trying to pin point the names of the ingredients to look out for. Answers can be a bit hard to find.
The mad dash is totally unnecessary now, thanks to Naturally Dah’ling. Brought to us by Kristen Campbell, cofounder of Gluten Free Fox, Naturally Dah’ling has more than enough answers for the discerning gluten free shopper.
Naturally Dah’ling has made a distinction for itself in the world of gluten free reviewing by being the only site that focuses purely on those hard to find cosmetic and skin care products. Kristen has tried product after product looking for the very best.
The site is easily searchable and full of recommended products that are not only gluten free, but natural as well. Each listing has a link to the individual sites where you can purchase products online. The Naturally Dah'ling blog is full of great insights and product news.
The best feature of Naturally Dah’ling is the ingredients page. It is a very detailed listing of the ingredients to watch out for when purchasing products. This list is exactly what is needed to make informed decisions about what to put on your body.
Ever enthusiastic, Kristen makes it clear over and over again that she is in the information game to help as many people as possible. About Naturally Dah’ling she says, "I especially hope that the 'Ingredients' page w/ a list of gluten-containing ingredients will help people to know what to look for!"
This site accomplishes just that!

I agree with all but one thing. The best feature of the website is Kristen herself. She is smart, funny, and fun to watch. She gets her facts right and the bids are fantastic! Why she is not a news anchor or movie star, only she knows.
Darn iPhone auto-correction!.... Meant to say the VIds are fantastic! But if by chance there are bids for her please let me know. :-)
Experts in the field of Celiac Disease say that topicals with gluten do not need to be avoided.
According to Dr. Peter Green's book Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic, celiacs don't necessarily have to buy GF personal care products and cosmetics:
Gluten needs to react with intestinal immune cells to initiate the inflammatory process. You would have to drink shampoo or skin lotion to cause the intestinal damage seen in celiac disease.
He adds that "if you have specific skin sensitivities to creams that contain gluten, you may need to consult a dermatologist or an allergist."
Dr. John Zone, possibily the world expert on Dermatitis Herpetiformis agrees.
"Gluten Free Living" Magazine has said that would need to eat 7 tubes of lipstick (if it had gluten) to have any reaction.
