The skin is the largest organ of the body. Maintaining it requires one to get a goodnight sleep, exercise, eat right and avoid over exposure to the sun. While many practice this and other methods, their skin still remains dull.

Many experts say dull complexions are brought by factors like stress and genetics among others. You need not to worry, below are best solutions for dull complexions.

1. Start Exfoliating
The skin cells change every 28 days when one is aged below 20 years. As they approach their 30’s, the change becomes slow and reduces as they approach their 40s and 50s. The dead skin cells usually pile up leading to a dull complexion. This is as a result of the dead cells forming a layer over the skin and diffusing light.

To prevent this, you need to start exfoliating your skin at night more than mornings. Exfoliating during the night gives you the opportunity to clean all the dirt particles, make up and dead cells therefore giving your skin room to breathe.

2. Start Eating Right
Different foods contain different nutrients which are beneficial for healthy and beautiful skin. Eating foods like fish, nuts and flax seed, they provide the body and the skin with omega 3 fats which are essential for a healthy skin and body.

The omega 3 fats help to boost collagen and cell formation. This helps in slowing down aging and wrinkle formation.

Anti-oxidants are also beneficial to the skin and one can get them from eating fruits and vegetables. Anti-oxidants help to fight aging while also brightening the skin.

3. Moisturize Your Skin Regularly
For brighter complexion, you need to start using moisturizers each day. You can purchase one that has sun block in it so as to provide protection from UV rays. You can also purchase those that contain light reflecting pigments since the added sheen makes the skin glow and helps to minimize dark circles and dull complexions.

You can also seek the advice of a dermatologist to start using retinoid cream which helps increase collagen production resulting in brighter and refreshed skin.

4. Brighten Your Skin with Face Masks
Face masks are available for all skin types. There are those that can help in brightening the skin which can be made simply at home. Below are two face masks that you can create while at home.

a. Lemon Cheesecake Mixture

You need to have 2 tablespoons of honey, 4 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of plain Greek yoghurt and 1 egg white. Pour all the ingredients into a large bowl and whisk until the mixture becomes thick. Apply the mixture on your skin and leave it for 15 minutes. Finally wash off the mixture with warm water.

b. Turmeric and Milk Mixture

Mix ½ a cup of milk with turmeric powder, rice powder and tomato. Mix the mixture using a spoon until it forms a thick paste. Apply the paste on your skin especially around the face and neck. Leave the mixture for 30 minutes and finally wash off with lukewarm water.

The above mixtures will help brighten your skin and also prevent wrinkle formation.

5. Reduce Alcohol Intake
Alcohol is known to dehydrate the body which leads to a dull skin. It also increase blood circulation around the skin surface making the skin look flushed around the face.
In order to have a brighter complexion, you need to eliminate alcohol intake.

6. Include Vitamin C in Your Meal Each Morning
Breakfast is an important meal because it provides the body with the much needed energy in order to accomplish daily tasks. Start your day by taking fruits rich in Vitamin C like oranges. Vitamin C is packed with anti-oxidants which help to fight off aging and also helps in brightening the skin.

Vitamin C works by raising the levels of glutathione in the red blood cells and lymphocytes. Glutathione is a chemical compound that helps to determine the balance of both light and dark pigments found in the skin. Therefore Vitamin C consumption helps to brighten the skin.

In conclusion, for anyone who wants to brighten their skin, you need to start eating foods rich in anti-oxidants such as fruits and vegetables. Also Vitamin C contained in oranges is helpful in brightening the skin and should be consumed each morning at breakfast.

Exfoliation helps in getting rid of dead skin cells making the skin breathe better and become brighter.
