On this day one year ago 'Natural Selection II' was released for download. For those unfamiliar with the widely popular indie game, it is a first person shooter arena based combat that is best describe as a blend of 'Counter Strike' and 'Starcraft.'
The 'Starcraft' aspect comes from the fact that, unlike many other first person shooters where players take on the role of humans fighting humans, players choose the side of either human marines or aliens. Players can run around biting, spitting and slashing the space marines to death.
In celebration of the one year anniversary of the game, Unknown Worlds has added and additional tier to what they call the Reinforcement Program. It runs similarly to kickstarter.com where players pledge a specific amount of money for special content and benefits in game. The Shadow Tier, for $75, has been added and players who are already Bronze, Silver, or Gold tier can upgrade for the price difference.
The tier includes many goodies for those generous enough to donate, but most notably are the two special Shadow Lerk and Shadow Gorge skins that give the players specially designed characters specifically for the tier.
It also happens to be the 11th birthday of the original 'Natural Selection,' and to celebrate Unknown Worlds has released a teaser trailer of a high definition return to Eclipse.
