Quench Essential Body is a line of natural, homemade, glycerin soap made right here in Austin, Texas by local Austinite, Lindsey Sandrick. Sandrick personally makes each batch of soap right in her own kitchen, enabling her to deliver fresh, natural soap to her clients. She also keeps it green and local by using minimal packaging, recycling soap and shipping products whenever possible, and purchasing many of her ingredients from local ATX co-ops.
But what is “glycerin” exactly? For those of us who don’t make our own beauty products, it sounds like a scary additive the FDA issues warnings about.
However, it’s exactly the opposite.
Glycerin is a neutral, non-toxic, thick liquid. It is colorless and odorless, and was originally used in the candle making industry. Today, glycerin has many beauty uses, especially in soaps. Why? Because it’s a natural humectant, which means it attracts moisture from the air to the top layers of the skin. It is also proven to make skin more supple and improve elasticity by promoting the cell’s life cycle. Many manufactured soaps actually remove glycerin from their products to save it for more expensive lines.
It was once said the glycerin actually pulls moisture from the skin, but this has since been disproven. It is now supported that glycerin helps maintain the skin’s homeostasis and water balance.
Ready to try some homemade, natural, glycerin soap for yourself?
Check out Quench Essential Body’s “Warm Vanilla Custard Goat’s Milk Bar” or “Sugar Daddy Bar.”
Warm Vanilla Custard Goat’s Milk Bar contains goat’s milk and turbinado sugar, and is scented with vanilla and praline fragrance oils. Goat’s milk is a natural cleanser that contains many vitamins and moisturizes the skin. The turbinado sugar is used as an exfoliant to help get rid of dead skin cells.
*Like goat’s milk? Quench Essential Body also has an entire goat’s milk soap bar line in addition to its many glycerin based soaps.
The Sugar Daddy Bar smells amazing and is adorably engraved with “I ♥Soap.” The scent comes from cranberry and orange, and the added ground oats help to soothe dry skin. Turbinado sugar and cranberry seed are used as exfoliants.

*While there are many benefits of glycerin based beauty products, it may not be situable for everyone. Some evidence suggests that glycerin based products are ideal for sensitive skin and eczema, while other evidence claims that it may be too harsh, especially when combined with certain ingredients, such as rose water. If you suffer from these conditions, please consider all evidence. Also, all Quench Essential Body products contain coconut oil. Those with allergies, please be advised.
