Survival of the Stylist (SOTS) meet-up group is hosting a Kickin’ it with the Kinks documentary screening.
The screening will take place on September 29, 2013 at Annie’s Art Gallery located on 5814 Allentown Way, Camp Springs, MD from 2 to 5 pm. Tickets are $20.
According to the website “Kickin’ it with the Kinks came to life as a self-funded documentary with a focus on the increasing trend amongst women of African descent ‘going natural’ when it comes to their hairstyle.”
Cynthia Butare is the editor and producer of Kickin’ it with the Kinks. The documentary initially started as her final year university project and quickly won accolades for the documentary presentation work done by Blackgirl Flow co-founder Mundia Situmbeko.
Attendees will be able to participate in a discussion of the documentary.
The discussion will be led by panelists – Pamela Jenkins, CEO of Koils by Nature, Camille Reed, Owner of Noire Hair Salon; Krystal Powell, Blogger – Kinky Hair Affair; and Sakeenah Nzingha, Operations Manager of Nu Ade and Tarsa Scott, Owner of Loc Central.
The panel will be moderated by Ansylla Ramsey Founder and CEO of My Hairitage.
There will also be door prizes and giveaways.
